As long as I can remember, prayer has always been part of my household when I was a little girl.  I was raised Catholic. Every Sunday we went to church, but something was missing.  The most I ever read the bible was in regards to learning about the following people by name and their contribution to the bible:  Adam and Eve, Noah, Moses, Jacob and Esau, Joseph( my favorite ), David (my second favorite), Solomon, Esther, Ruth & Naomi, Elijah, Elisha, Jesus and all his disciples.  I never really understand how to study and apply the word of God to my life until I was 25 years old.

My grandmother was the prayer warrior of our family. She even prayed in tongues.  Although no one ever explained it to me, I always sensed the power in my grandmother’s prayer. I secretly hoped that one day that I could pray like her.  Fast forward, at 25 years old, I decided that I needed to rededicate my life to God because something was missing.  On September 6, 1999, I was baptized in the ocean at Coney Island.  I came out of the water speaking in tongues, even praying in tongues. Life has never been the same. My relationship with God has changed from just hearing and reading about him to now experiencing a personal walk with him.

I cannot tell it all of what God has done and what he is doing in my life in these paragraphs. However, it is important that I share how I once felt unloved and insignificant. But God, he has proven to me time and time again, that I am loved and I am worthy. With this new knowledge, I am eager to share this with others whom I come across who feel like I once did.  I will continue to be God’s humble servant knowing that “The Lord is my light and salvation, whom shall fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid” (Psalm 27:1)
