Veterans Appreciation Dinner. Long Island.

Our Veterans Appreciation Dinner is how one Long Island church says thank you, and we mean every word of it. Once a year Sound of Heaven Church sets the tables, puts out a full sit-down meal, and serves the men and women who served this country, along with the families who served right beside them. It is free. Every branch is welcome. Come hungry.

Why We Do This

you carried something for all of usHonor, Out Loud.

A lot of veterans on Long Island have heard "thank you for your service" so many times it barely lands anymore. We wanted to say it in a way you can taste.

Here is what I know. Some of you came home and went straight back to work and family and never talked about any of it. Some of you are still carrying things nobody at the barbecue knows about. Some of you are proud, some of you are tired, and plenty of you are both. Whoever you are walking in, you are welcome at this table.

This dinner is not a fundraiser, and it is not a sales pitch for our church. Nobody is going to corner you in the hallway. It is a full meal, served to you, in a room full of people who are glad you came. There will be music. There will be speakers. And there will be time to sit with your family and just breathe for a night.

Jesus said the greatest love there is looks like laying your life down for your friends. A lot of you lived close to that line. The least we can do is pull out a chair.

Romans 13:7

Give to everyone what you owe them... if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

John 15:13

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends.

Matthew 11:28

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

For one night, you do not wait in a line, you do not pay a bill, and you do not clean up. That is our job. Here is what is on the table.

01

A Real Meal

A full sit-down dinner at a real table, with people serving you for a change. Come hungry.

02

Music

Music sets the room. It is the kind of night where the conversation and the songs run together.

03

Speakers

A few people take the floor to honor what you gave. Short, sincere, and worth hearing.

04

Your Family

Spouses, kids and parents held down the home front while you were gone. They get a seat at this table too.
