For a lot of Bay Shore families, Sunday starts on Bay Shore Road. About 15 to 20 minutes from downtown, you turn onto Commack Road and pull into Sound of Heaven Church at 375 Commack Rd in Deer Park. The kids head to Kingdom Kids, you grab a coffee, and worship starts at 9 or 11.
From downtown it is one county road almost the whole way, with no Expressway to deal with. Leave about 25 minutes before service and you will have time to park, check the kids in, and find a seat.
From Montauk Highway, take Third Avenue north. It jogs onto Roosevelt Street and becomes Howells Road.
Howells Road meets the Sunrise Highway service roads at the traffic circle by Exit 42. Go around and keep heading northwest. Past the circle, the same road is called Bay Shore Road.
Stay on Bay Shore Road through the Southern State Parkway interchange at Exit 41 and on into Deer Park.
Just before Bay Shore Road ends at Deer Park Avenue, turn right at the traffic light onto Commack Road. We are less than a mile up at 375 Commack Rd. If you reach Grand Plaza, with the Kohl’s and the Stop & Shop, you just passed us.
Already on Sunrise Highway? Take it west to the Deer Park Avenue exit and head north. After the Southern State interchange, bear right where Commack Road forks off, and stay on Commack Road up to 375.
Here is a Sunday morning for a family coming up from Bay Shore, start to finish, so nothing catches you off guard.
Both services have live worship and a full message. Take the 9 and you are back on the South Shore with the whole afternoon open. Take the 11 and the kids get to sleep in.
The lot is right on Commack Road and parking is free. Nobody has a reserved spot. Park, walk in, and someone at the door will say hi and point you to the coffee.
Kingdom Kids runs during both services. Our First Impressions team walks you to the secure check-in, and every volunteer who serves kids and youth is background-checked.
The band leads worship first. Then Apostle Johnny Ova, or Evangelist Jason D’Ambrosio on rotation, walks through a passage of Scripture in its context and points it to Jesus. Then pick up the kids and head back down Bay Shore Road.
I've been attending Sound of Heaven for exactly a year now, and from the moment I walked in, it felt like a prayer answered. The church has been so welcoming, and I've truly found a community in Christ here. Sound of Heaven offers so many opportunities to grow in your walk with the Lord, and they teach heavily on what it means to truly be like Jesus. It has been an incredible blessing to be part of this church family.

Every person in your car has a place here, from the little ones to you. These are the ministries most Bay Shore families start with.

At the 9 and the 11 every Sunday. Kids get their own worship and Bible teaching while you sit in the main service.
Kingdom Kids
Our youth group. Teenagers get their own crew and leaders who take their questions seriously.
WAVE Youth
Women who meet to pray, open the Word, and walk with each other through every season of life.
Women Of Virtue
Our men’s brotherhood, led by Evangelist Jason D’Ambrosio and Elder Caesar Santos. Honest talk, prayer, and men who hold each other up.
Fight ClubServing our neighbors is a big part of life here. Every November the Thanksgiving Turkey Drive gives away thousands of turkeys, no paperwork and no questions. In December, Christmas Town is our biggest free community day. The Veterans Appreciation Dinner is a free sit-down meal for veterans and their families. Come serve with your family, and bring a neighbor. See all of our community outreach, and watch the calendar for dates.
Sunday gets you in the door. Wednesday is where you get to know people. We meet every Wednesday at 7:00 PM, in the building or online, and each week of the month has its own kind of night. If you want to start from the ground up, Foundations is our 12-week course on Thursdays at 7 PM.
The first Wednesday of the month is all worship. No sermon clock. Singing, prayer, and room to meet God.
Evangelist Jason D’Ambrosio takes one topic and walks it through Scripture, in context, with time for your questions.
Bring whatever you are carrying. We pray over real needs out loud, together, for our families and our neighbors on the South Shore.
Get to know us from your couch first. Watch a service, read what we believe, or see the other towns our families come from.
What Bay Shore families usually ask before their first Sunday.
About 15 to 20 minutes from downtown. Take Third Avenue north, which becomes Howells Road and then Bay Shore Road. Go around the Sunrise Highway circle, through the Southern State interchange, and turn right at the light onto Commack Road. We are less than a mile up at 375 Commack Rd in Deer Park.
No. Plenty of people in our seats on a Sunday are coming back after a long time away, and some never went to church at all. Nobody will single you out or ask you to stand up as a visitor. Wear jeans if you want, sit where you like, and ask questions when you are ready.
Kingdom Kids meets at both the 9 and the 11. Your first time, someone from our First Impressions team takes you to check-in, so you are never guessing which door to use. The system is secure, and every volunteer is background checked. Teenagers are welcome in WAVE, our youth group.
Yes. Every service streams live on our website and on Facebook, Sundays and Wednesdays. Watch from home for a few weeks if you want, then come up to Deer Park when you are ready.
Yes. You do not have to be a member to serve your neighbors. Call 631-818-1919 and tell us you want to help, and watch the calendar on our Upcoming Events page for dates. Bring the kids and bring a neighbor.
Tell us you are coming and someone will meet you at the door and walk you to Kingdom Kids. Or just show up at 9 or 11. Either way, there is a seat for you at 375 Commack Rd.
See you soon.Apostle Johnny Ova
